Karnataka State Eligibility Test (KSET) is an important exam for those who wish to work as assistant professors or lecturers in colleges and universities across Karnataka. This exam is organized by the University of Mysore and is conducted under the supervision of the KSET Centre for Lectureship. KSET 2025 offers 32 subject choices to candidates to apply in their relevant fields. The KSET Exam 2025 was held on April 16 to 17, 2025. After the exam, the provisional answer key was released April 18, 2025, and candidates were allowed to make corrections in their application form within the given correction window.  The exam consists of a total of three papers, all of which are based on multiple choice questions. Paper- I Part A, test General Knowledge and Part B, Aptitude in Teaching and Paper- II focus on the candidate’s chosen subject and Mathematics & Statics. However, candidates who have qualified for KSET in a particular subject in previous years are not allowed to appear for the exam again in the same subjects. If such candidates try to apply again, their application will be rejected, and their pervious qualification may also be cancelled.

KSET Exam Eligibility Criteria 2025

Before applying for KSET Exam 2025, it is essential for candidates to know the eligibility criteria. Below is the detailed eligibility criteria for KSET Exam 2025, please check it out.

Eligibility AspectDetails
Educational QualificationGeneral category candidates must secure a minimum of 55 percent marks in their master's degree or equivalent from institutions recognized by UGC. Reserved category candidates including SC ST OBC Cat-I IIA IIB IIIA IIIB and PwD require at least 50 percent marks. PhD holders who completed their Master's on or before 19 September 1991 are eligible for a 5 percent relaxation.
Provisional EligibilityCandidates currently in their master's program or awaiting results may apply provisionally. They must submit valid proof of completion with the required marks within two years from the date of KSET result declaration. Failure to do so will lead to disqualification.
Subject SelectionCandidates should appear for KSET only in the subject corresponding to their postgraduate specialization. If the specific subject is not available in the KSET subject list, they are advised to apply for UGC NET or CSIR NET.
Reservation PolicyReserved category candidates must declare their status in the application and upload valid certificates issued by competent authorities before the deadline. Applicants from outside Karnataka will be treated as General category regardless of their community status as per Karnataka Government policy.
Age LimitThere is no upper age limit for appearing in the KSET 2025 examination.
Re-attempt RestrictionsCandidates who have already qualified in a specific subject in previous KSET exams are not allowed to apply for the same subject again. If found reapplying, their earlier eligibility will be cancelled and considered invalid.
Foreign DegreesCandidates holding foreign degrees diplomas or certificates must obtain an equivalency certificate from the Association of Indian Universities AIU New Delhi confirming their qualification is equivalent to an Indian Master's degree.

KSET Exam Syllabus 2025

KSET 2025 examination will include 41 subjects declared by the University of Mysore. The syllabus of each subject is available for download on the official website – kset.uni-mysore.ac.in. All the questions in the second paper will be compulsory and will be based entirely on the subject-specific syllabus.

In case of any discrepancy in the Kannada version of the question paper, the English version will be considered final.

KSET Exam Pattern 2025

KSET 2025 Exam will have two papers on the same day. Both the papers will have only objective type multiple choice questions ( MCQs) . The complete exam pattern is given in detail below.
