About Karnataka State Eligibility Test (KSET)

The Karnataka State Eligibility Test (KSET) is conducted annually by the Karnataka Examination Authority as directed by the Government of Karnataka. The KSET exam is conducted for the Assistant Profession at the University of Mysore. This exam contains two papers and the type of questions in both of these papers will be MCQs. The certificate issued by the University for the eligible candidates has lifetime validity. KSET - qualified candidates are eligible for the post of Lecturers / Assistant Professors of Universities / Colleges / Institutions of Karnataka state.

KSET Exam Pattern

Here are details of the KSET exam pattern : 

  • Mode of Exam : Offline
  • Exam Duration : Paper I – 60 Minutes and Paper II – 120 Minutes.
  • Number of Questions : 150 Questions.
  • Type of Questions : Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Total Marks : 300 Marks.
  • Marking Scheme : 2 marks for each correct answer and no negative marking.
  • Sections : 2 Sections, Paper I & Paper II.
     

KSET 2024 Qualifying Marks

The candidates are required to obtain minimum marks in aggregate of Paper I and Paper II for eligibility for Assistant Professor as mentioned below :

  • General (GM) : 40% aggregate marks in both papers taken together.
  • SC/ ST/ CAT - I/ II A/ II B / IIIA / III B / PWD / Transgender : 35% aggregate marks in both papers taken together.
     

Marking Process of KSET Examination

  •  Correct Answer : 2 Marks will be awarded to the students for each correct answer.
  • Incorrect Answer : There is no negative marking for giving wrong answers.
     

Score Validity of the KSET Exam

The KSET scorecard is valid for a period of the lifetime. However, we suggest you double - check the official notification, if there are any specific validity period updates.

Application Fees for the KSET Examination


During the application process for KSET 2024, The candidate should ensure the payment of the respective fees according to their category. The application fee for the KSET examination is as follows :

  • General, Cat - IIA, IIB, IIIA, IIIB & other State Candidates : INR 1,000/-
  • Cat - I, SC, ST, PWD & Transgender Candidates : INR 700/-
     

The application fee payment has to be made in the “Computerized Post Office” branches only. Payment made by any other mode, such as Money Order / Demand Draft / IPO, etc. will not be accepted.
