GATE 2026 answer keys and response sheets are currently available, with the Master Question Paper and official Answer Key having been uploaded to the GATE portal (gate2026.iitg.ac.in) on February 22, 2026. Check out the direct link to download and make an objection.
The candidates who appeared on the GATE 2026 examination held between February 7, 8, 14, and 15 can only view their response sheet on the official GOAPS portal. Calculate the estimated scores applying a marking scheme that includes a 1/3 deduction for 1-mark MCQs and a 2/3 deduction for 2-mark MCQs before the result declaration on March 19. The MSQs and NATs remain free of negative marking. Following the results, scorecards will be available for free from March 27 to May 31, after which a INR 500 fee will apply until year-end.

GATE 2026 provisional answer key was released alongside response sheets to allow candidates to raise objections against potential errors. The final answer key is published after a thorough review of these challenges and serves as the definitive basis for score evaluation. Once the final key is released, no further objections or rechecking requests are permitted.

To estimate your performance before the final result, you can calculate your raw marks out of 100 by comparing your GOAPS response sheet with the official provisional answer key. Check the marking scheme given above. The score formula is:

GATE 2026: Marks vs. Score Comparison
Your GATE marks represent the raw total you earned out of 100 based on the marking scheme. In contrast, the GATE score is a normalized value calculated out of 1000, designed to standardize performance across different sessions and difficulty levels. GATE 2026 Scorecard Validity and PSU Recruitment
While the official GATE scorecard is valid for three years from the date of announcement, its utility for Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) recruitment varies. Most PSUs prefer the current year's scorecard or, at most, a one-year-old result. If you are aiming for a job at a PSU, it is vital to check their specific recruitment notification for the required GATE year.
Restrictions on Challenging the GATE Provisional Answer Key
Not all applicants are eligible to raise objections. Provisional candidates - those whose applications contain discrepancies in names, photographs, signatures, or other critical data are barred from the contest process. While they can view their individual responses on the GOAPS portal, the "Challenge" functionality will be disabled for them.
Post-Challenge Review Process of GATE 2026
Once the objection window closes on February 28, a panel of subject matter experts will review all submitted challenges.
- If an objection is validated, the correction will be reflected in the final answer key.
- GATE 2026 final answer key is absolute and cannot be challenged further.
- he final results, calculated based on this revised key, will be announced on March 19, 2026.
GATE Objection Fees and Payment Modes
To raise an objection you must pay a fee of INR 500 per question.
- There is no limit on the number of questions you can challenge, provided the fee is paid for each.
- Payments are accepted via UPI / Netbanking / Credit Card / Debit Card.
- The objection fee is non-refundable, regardless of whether your challenge is accepted or rejected.

Candidates can select up to four exam cities based on preference.
New rule: Cities must be from your Permanent or Present Address state.
NTA will allot the nearest available centres based on Permanent Address.
