Kolkata: West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board has announced the WBJEE JELET 2025 exam date for June 15, 2025, a pen-and-paper test designed for lateral entry admissions. Online applications are expected to commence in March 2025, requiring candidates to provide personal details, select exam centers, and pay the application fee online.

The two-hour WBJEE JELET 2025 exam will consist of 100 MCQs covering Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Fundamentals of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. What is WBJEE JELET 2025 Eligibility Criteria?

The eligibility criteria for WBJEE JELET 2025 are stated below:

  1. Diploma Holders:
    • Candidates must have a Diploma in Engineering/Technology from an AICTE-approved institution or university.
    • A minimum of 45% marks (or equivalent CGPA) is required in the diploma.
    • For reserved categories (SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, and PwD), the minimum required marks are 40%.
  2. Sc. Holders:
    • Candidates must have a B.Sc. degree from a recognized university.
    • A minimum of 45% aggregate marks (40% for reserved categories) is required.
    • Candidates must have completed mathematics as a required course in their 10+2 education.
    • Sc. holders that are admitted, will have to pass Engineering Mechanics and Engineering Graphics/Drawing, in addition to second-year subjects.

Ans: JEE Main is a national-level exam for 10+2 graduates seeking first-year undergraduate engineering admissions to institutions like NITs and IIITs, also serving as a gateway to IITs via JEE Advanced. In contrast, WBJEE JELET is a state-level exam in West Bengal specifically designed for diploma holders and B.Sc. graduates, providing lateral entry into the second year of undergraduate engineering/technology or pharmacy programs within the state. Essentially, JEE Main is for direct entry after high school, while JELET facilitates advanced placement for those with prior technical qualifications.
