Established in 1985, IIT Bombay is NAAC A++ accredited and is approved by AICTE and UGC. The autonomous Institute is located in the Powai region of Mumbai. IITB offers more than 80 courses across 17 departments. NIRF has ranked IIT Bombay in the 3rd position in the BTech category in 2024. 

IIT Bombay offers BTech, BTech + MTech, BSc, and BDes in the UG level whereas you can opt for MTech, MTech + PhD, MDes, MBA, MA + PhD, MSc + PhD in the PG level. IITB offers 4 years full time flagship BTech program with a total fee of INR 8.56 Lakhs. You need to appear at JEE Advanced followed by JoSAA counselling for admission to the BTech program. IIT Bombay Admission 2025 

Admission to IIT Bombay is through JEE Main, JEE Advanced, GATE, CAT, UCEED, CEED, UGC-NET, (M.Phil. Entrance Test), IIT JAM, etc. national level entrance examinations. After the entrance examination, you need to appear for JoSAA and COAP Counselling for admission to the BTech and MTech programs respectively. 

• For admission to the BS, you need to have a valid score in JEE Main 
• Similarly, for the BDes admission, UCCED scores are needed. However, you need to appear for CEED exam to apply for MDes program. 
• Admission to the EMBA program is based on the Statement of Purpose followed by Personal interview. 
• IIT Bombay accepts IIT JAM scores for admission to the MSc program. And CAT exam is accepted for the MBA course. However, the final selection is made based on your performance in the personal interview round. 
• As a PhD student, you need to have a valid GATE/ CEED/UGC-NET/CSIR-NET scores followed by a Personal interview. 

IIT Bombay Admission 2025 To MTech / MTech + PhD/ MS by Research 

Admission to IIT Bombay integrated MTech + PhD, MTech, and MTech by Research is through national level entrance examinations like GATE. You need to apply for the registration process. And an applicant can submit only one application at a time. Follow the given steps for registration and application process. 

Registration Process with a Valid GATE Score in GATE 2022, 2023 & 2024 

• Click on the "Register" link. 
• Click on the "Login" link. 
• Select GATE Applicant if you have valid GATE score 
• If you are an eligible applicant for IIT Bombay MTech program, you will see the registration box. 
• Fill COAP ID. 
• Carefully fill all the fields according to the GATE scorecard. 

Registration Process without a Valid GATE Score or IIT BTech Degree holder 

• Click on the "Register" link. 
• Click on the "Login" link. 
• Select Non-Gate / IIT BTech option

Documents Required 

• Scanned 3.5 x 4.5 photo (of type jpg/jpeg/Png) with size less than 30 kb. 
• Scanned Signature (of type jpg/jpeg/Png) with size less than 10 kb. 
• Scanned Marksheet of last semester/Consolidated Marksheet of the Qualifying Degree (of type PDF) with size less than 500 KB. 
• Scanned Caste Certificate [OBC-NC/OBC-NC(Minorities)/SC/ST] if applicable (of type PDF) with size less than 500 kb. 
• Scanned EWS certificate if applicable (of type PDF) with size less than 500 kb. 
• Scanned PD certificate if applicable (of type PDF) with size less than 500 kb. 

Correction in Application: 

You can correct any mistakes or make changes in the already submitted application form by clicking on the "Unfreeze Application" link. 

NOTE: You need to Submit the application form otherwise it will not be considered for further processing.

IIT Bombay Infrastructure 

IIT Bombay is spread across an area of 545 acres in Powai, which is an eastern suburb in the North-Eastern part of Mumbai. It has four storied Central Library with an area of over 63,000 sq. ft. and is located towards the North of the Main building. The library has a total collection of 4.40 lakh items which has 2,53,504 books in itself. 

IITB has sports facilities that conduct table tennis, badminton, chess, yoga, hockey, basketball, football, volleyball and more for internal and external students. 

The Institute has a double occupancy hostel facility for on campus students which is pre allotted. Four hostels are allotted to male students, and three hostels are for female students. The hostels have Mess facilities and a Mess Manager to ensure all formalities and processes.
