CAT 2024 exam paper showed a change in the exam pattern. Unlike 66 questions asked in previous years, the 2024 exam paper had68 questions.2 extra questions came in the DILR section and para-jumbles didn't come in the VARC section. There were no further changes in the topic-wise weightage in the CAT 2024 exam pattern.

CAT 2024 exam was conducted on November 24, 2024. The paper had 3 sections named VAARC, DILR and QA.24 questions came from theVARCsection, 22 questions came from theDILRsection andQAsection each. Candidates got minutes for each section having a total duration of 120 minutes to attempt all the MCQs and non-MCQs asked in the CAT 2024 paper. The total marks increased from 198 to 204 this year.

CAT 2024 Marking Scheme

The CAT 2024 exam paper contained a total of 68 questions with a total score of 204. Questions were given in objective- form, including MCQs and non-MCQs. For the MCQs, there were a+3 marking for each correct answer and 1 for each wrong answer. For the non-MCQs, there was no negative marking.

The CAT 2024 exam process involves several steps like online registration, admit card release, conducting examination, answer key release, and result declaration. After the results are out, you can get admission to various colleges based on accepted cutoff marks. The step-by-step process for CAT 2024 is mentioned below:

  • Registration for CAT 2024 opened on August 1, 2024, and closed on September 20, 2024.
  • The CAT 2024 admit cards were released on November 5, 2024 at iimcat.ac.in.
  • The CAT 2024 exam was held on November 24, 2024, in three shifts.
  • CAT 2024 response sheets were released on November 29, 2024.
  • CAT 2024 provisional answer key will be out on December 3, 2024.
  • The CAT 2024 results will be declared in December 2024 (tentative).
  • You can get admission to MBA colleges based on specific cutoffs.

How to Mark Answers in the CAT 2024 Examination?

The CAT 2024 exam was computer-based, which means candidates can mark the answers electronically on the computer screen. The process of marking answers in the CAT 2024 is discussed below:

  • The exam interface displayed the question on the screen, followed by four options: A, B, C, and D. This format is for MCQs only.
  • Candidates had to click on the checkbox corresponding to their chosen answer.
  • Once selected, the answers were marked as selected.
  • Candidates could review their answers before submitting and change their answers later if required.

Ans. The CAT VARC section includes reading comprehension passages followed by questions, vocabulary-based questions, and grammar-based questions.
