NTA’s JEE Advanced 2025 Attempts Reduced to 2, Check Details   

IIT Kanpur along with Joint Admission Board has released a notification with significant changes to its eligibility criteria. In this press release, the number of JEE Advanced attempts has been reduced to 2.   The exam had earlier extended the number of attempts to three for the candidates. 

JEE Advanced 2025 eligibility: Official notification  

The press release was issued at the website of IIT Kanpur on November 18, 2024. As per the release, the number of attempts for JEE advance has been reduced to two. JAB has decided to restore the earlier eligibility criterion used in previous years pertaining to the number of attempts in JEE (Advanced).  

About the JEE Advanced Attempt Limit?  

Students who are unaware of the JEE Advanced Attempt Limit must learn that it is the number of attempts for a student. The JEE Advanced attempt limit is two in consecutive years which was earlier thrice in three consecutive years. This means candidates who had appeared for the JEE Advanced 2024 can appear for the JEE Advanced exam 2025. However, candidates who appeared for the JEE Advanced 2023 will not be allowed to attempt the JEE Advanced 2025 examination.   

No Changes to other JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria   

There are no other notable changes to the JEE Advanced examination apart from the attempt limit. Here are some of the eligibility criteria of the exam:  

  • To appear for the JEE Advanced exam the candidate must be among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates. This includes all categories in the B.E./B.Tech. paper (Paper I) of JEE (Main) 2025.   
  • The candidate should have appeared for the Class 12 examination with compulsory subjects including Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.  
  • To appear for the JEE Advanced 2025 exam the candidate should have been born on or after October 1, 2000. However, there are some age relaxations to SC, ST, and PwD candidates.
