NTA Declares Final NEET-UG Result: Two of 17 NEET Toppers from Delhi, 4 from Rajasthan

NTA Declares Final NEET-UG Result, Two of 17 NEET Toppers from Delhi, 4 from Rajasthan
A slight change of 5 marks has brought joy to some and sorrow to others as students moved down or up by 8000 ranks in NEET-UG, conducted for admission to medical colleges. According to Times of India, 17 students with perfect scores of 720 were announced top score holders, compared to the first merit list announcement where there were 61 toppers. As per the latest news, 17 toppers are from Delhi, and 4 achievers from Rajasthan.

Among the 17 toppers from Delhi is, Mridul Manya Anand and UP’s Ayush Naugraiya from EWS category. There is another candidate from Delhi with 720 score, and four toppers with highest marks from Rajasthan.

This was a huge relief for other examinees with marginal difference in ranks. Along with the decrease in the number of highest score holders, in the revise result, the number of qualified candidates and qualifying cutoffs have also been released. The renewed result was declared on Friday following an order from the Supreme Court after counting the marks of a question from Physics, as there were 2 accurate answers.

Other than 17 perfect score of 720, there were 6 students with 716, and 77 with 715 score, which creates the group of 100 candidates at the top level.

The revision results also brought the cut offs, for the economically weaker and unreserved section the new cut off is 720-162, for OBC/SC/ST it’s 161 to 127.

Four female students scored 720, which increased the number of girl toppers from 16% to 23%, and there 22 candidates among the top 100 achievers.

The list of toppers includes four students from Rajasthan, two each from Delhi and UP, three from Maharashtra, and one each from Kerala, Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Bihar and West Bengal.

44 out of 67 candidates who were declared toppers previously, had the full marks because of that one Physics question. The number of toppers later came down to 61 as NTA withdrew grace marks given to 6 students to cover for the loss of time in the exam centers.

The total numbers of candidates decreased by 415 to 13,15,853. There are total fifteen states and UTs which registered a greater number of qualified students, comprising West Bengal, Uttarakhand, Kerala, Gujarat, and Goa.

Although, NTA has not released the number of students who were previously qualified, but they are now short of the eligible marks because of the loss of 5 marks, the report says the number is important.

Even though the qualified candidate’s numbers have been decreased, UP state has the maximum with more than 1.6 lakh, who made the cut, followed by Maharashtra, 1.4 lakh and Rajasthan, 1.2 lakh. The other two states with qualifiers are Kerala (86,713), and Karnataka (88,887).

Based on the category, the number of qualified candidates decreased for the unreserved category students, EWS and OBC, while it increased for ST and SC candidates.

Sharing the joy of the result one candidates stated on social media, that they have received 651, which was previously 656, and the rank is 26,119, which may not be a great difference. While another student stated, that 2000 rank were unfortunately lost.

On Tuesday, SC has denied the pleas of cancelation and re-test for the controversy-ridden test, stating that there was no evidence of breach in the exam. However, CBI has probed about the irregularities in NEET-UG and lodged 6 FIRs already.

NEET-UG is organized by NTA for admissions to MBBS, BDS, Ayush and other related programs in private and government colleges.
