NSP Scholarship 2025
The National Scholarship Portal (NSP) is an initiative by the Indian Government for applying, processing, verifying, and sanctioning government scholarships. It provides a common, effective, and transparent way to distribute scholarship among the students. This portal allows the students to apply for hundreds of scholarships run by both central and state governments.

The NSP Scholarships are divided into three sections, Central Sector Scheme, Centrally Sponsored Schemes, and State Schemes. To apply for these scholarship schemes, visit to the official NSP website at scholarships.gov.in. But, before applying for any scholarship, make sure to check the eligibility criteria of that scholarship scheme.

Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD):

DEPwD offers mainly three scholarships through the NSP Portal, i.e. Top-Class Education Scholarship, Pre-Metric Scholarship, and Post-Metric Scholarship. Here is the detailed information regarding these scholarships mentioned below:

  1. Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College & University Students:

The Ministry of Education offers this scheme for college and university students. It offered based on the result of the Higher Secondary / Class XII Board Examination. A maximum of 82,000 fresh scholarships are provided to students every year, who pursuing graduate / postgraduate degrees in colleges and universities. Eligibility Criteria Here are the eligibility criteria for this scholarship scheme:

  • Must have secured a minimum of 80th percentile in Class XII board examination.
  • Must be pursuing regular degree courses or not distance mode courses.
  • Not availing benefits of any other scholarship , that including state-run scholarships.
  • The family income should be within INR 4.5 LPA.
  • For renewal of the scholarship, the candidate must maintain 50% marks in the annual exam and must have at least 75% attendance.

Ministry of Tribal Affairs:

Ministry of Tribal Affairs offers National Fellowship Scheme and National Scholarship Scheme through the NSP Portal. Here is detailed information on these schemes discussed below:

  1. National Fellowship & Scholarship for Higher Education of ST Students (Formerly Top-Class Education for Schedule Tribe Students):

It is a Central Sector Scheme, funded by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. This scholarship is offered to meritorious ST students for pursuing higher education in India. This scheme has two sub-schemes. The first one is the National Fellowship Scheme for candidates pursuing an M.Phil or Ph.D after a Master’s degree. The second one is the National Scholarship Scheme for Graduate/Post-Graduate candidates.

Department of School Education & Literacy:

Eligibility Criteria Here are the eligibility criteria for this scheme:

  • Each state conducts one test at the stage of Class VIII to select the candidate for this scholarship. The state-level examination may consist of two tests, MAT & SAT. Candidates must score a minimum of 55% in the exam for the award of a scholarship (relatable by 5% for SC/ST candidates).
  • They must be studying as regular student in Government, Government-aided, and local body schools to be eligible for this scholarship.
  • The annual family income should be within INR 3.5 LPA.

Ministry of Home Affairs:

The Ministry of Home Affairs offers the Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme for wards and widows of CAPFs & AR and states/UTs police personnel. For more information on these scholarship schemes, check out the details below:

  1. PM Scholarship Scheme for Central Armed Police Force & Assam Rifles:

PMSS under the aegis of the National Defence Fund was started in the academic year of 2006-07. The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage higher technical and professional education for the dependent wards and widows of the CAPF and Assam Rifles. From the academic session 2019-20, this scholarship has further been extended for the dependent wards of States/UGs Police Personnel who were martyred during the Terror or Naxal attack.

Ministry of Railways (Railway Board):

The Railways Ministry provides the PM Scholarship Scheme to the dependent wards of Ex/Serving RPF/RPSF personnel and widows. Here is the detailed information regarding this scholarship scheme discussed below:

  1. Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme for Ministry of Railways:

A total of 150 students have been earmarked to RPF for an academic session. The purpose of this scholarship scheme is to provide to encourage technical and professional education for the dependent wards of Ex/Serving RPF/RPSF personnel and widows.
