IIT Bombay Placements Report 2024-78% Students Received Jobs, Average Salary Package Increases
The IIT Bombay placement report is out for 2024. Over 78% of students of the institute were placed outside the country, while 622 received jobs in Indian organizations, and 775 got placements in various MNCs. Compared to the academic session of 2022-23, the number of placements has reduced significantly. However, the average salary offers have improved by 8%, according to the internship and placement report of the college on 3 September 2024.

The average salary offers increased to INR 23.5 lakh, which was INR 21.82 lakh in 2023. An increase of 7.7 %.

Regardless of the increase in the average salary, the job percentage on campus decreased. Out of 2414 students, 1979 participated in the placement event, and among them 1,475 candidates received jobs.

In the previous year, 1,845 students out of 2,174 candidates participated in the placement drive, and total 1,516 students received job offers. Which suggests that total 82% candidates were placed, and it’s a higher percentage than this year’s number.

Furthermore, 388 companies out of 543 joined the placement drive, and this year’s total number of job offers increased by 12% compared to last year.

Summer Versus Winter Internship Offers at IIT Bombay in 2024

The institute offers summer internships, which start in May to mid-July. On the other hand, winter internships begin in December. This year the summer internship numbers increased than the winter one.

Total internships in 2024- 1267. Summer internships in 2024- 1178. Winter internships in 2024- 89.

 

Companies Versus Universities Internship Offers in 2024

Various companies offered internships to students. This is to offer better experience in the industry. Some years ago, the college also started a credit-based internship program, so students could use their academic performances in the internships.

Total internships in 2024- 1267. Companies offered in 2024- 1177. University offered in 2024- 90.

In all programs, a total of 430 students went for core internships in their department, and 740 candidates received non-core internships in other organizations.

 

Ph.D Placement Details at IIT Bombay in 2024

  • Total registered students: 230
  • Total active participants: 118
  • Total accepted offers: 32
  • Average salary from assigned offers (in INR): INR 18.46 LPA.
  • Offer Percentage: 27.11%.

Based on the options, the students who didn’t receive placements, have already identified their career path, and the other have pursued higher studies, entrepreneurship, or self-employment.

The overall average salary offered displayed an increase of 7.7% over the previous year, which went from INR 21.82 LPA to INR 23.5 LPA. The placement scenario is still optimistic based on the data of placement of previous years, and even after the COVID–19 pandemic and the uncertainty of the job platform. The number of companies that visited the college increased from 324 to 364 in 2024. To conclude, the upward trend of job offers continued in the 2023-24 academic session, which also confirms that IIT Bombay is one of the preferred recruiting platforms for big MNCs and Indian companies.
