Important Points on GATE 2025 IIT Roorkee
- The exam will be conducted for thirty test papers.
- Candidates can appear in one or two test papers.
- The exam mode will be in English language.
- The exam carries total 100 marks. The General Aptitude carries 15 marks and the rest of papers carries 85 marks.
- Candidates who want to appear for both papers must select a primary test paper, the second one will be selected from the permitted combinations.
- Other than the listed combinations by IIT Roorkee are now allowed in the registration window.
- The examination venue of the second test paper will be different from the first one, but it will be in the same city.
- The exam will be conducted for three hours.
How to Register for GATE 2025
Candidates have to visit the official website. Follow the below steps,

Go to the official webpage gate2025.iitr.ac.in
2. Visit the link:
Access the GATE 2025 Online Application Processing System, GOAPS. Here, click on “Register” and login after registration.
3. Login with the application:
Click on “Submit” option and you will get an OTP on your registered mobile number. Enter the OTP. After successful login, you will get the enrollment number on your registered email or mobile number. Save the enrollment ID and take a print out of the registration for future use.

Marks distribution for all papers except Life Sciences (XL), Humanities and Social Sciences (XH), Statistics (ST), Physics (PH), Mathematics (MA), Geology and Geophysics (GG), Ecology and Evolution (EY), Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DA), Chemistry (CY), and Architecture (AR).
Negative marking
For an incorrect answer in the MCQ section marks will be deducted.
For one-mark MCQ, 1/3 mark will be deducted.
For two marks MCQ question, 2/3 mark will be deducted
There’s no negative marking scheme for NAT or MSQ questions.

SC/ ST/ PwD Applicants: Normal Application Fee– INR 900. Late Application Fee – INR 1,400

- For the GATE 2025 registration, candidates must provide their personal details such as name, date of birth, contact number, parent’s name, their mobile numbers, etc.
- Applicants have to provide the 10th class certificate with a valid ID proof.
- Address with pin code
- GATE paper(s) (subject).
- College name and address with pin code
- Selection of the GATE test cities
- Scanned images and signature of the applicant
- SC/ST candidates have to provide category certificate in PDF format.
- Scanned copy of the PwD certificate
- PDF format scanned copy of the Certificate of Dyslexia
