KSEAB has waived the examination fee for Exams 2 and 3 for all female students and male students belonging to SC, ST, and Category 1 who are appearing as repeaters this year.
Kolkata: According to the KSEAB, a total of 2.27 lakh candidates have registered for the second PUC exam. Approximately 70,000 students who passed the first exam are taking the second exam to improve their scores.
School Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa stated that 1.57 lakh students who did not pass one or more subjects in the first exam are retaking it to clear them. The number of students appearing for improvement in this year's 2nd PUC exam has increased by 42,000 compared to last year. He also explained that this increase indicates a growing understanding of the three-exam system and the significance of higher marks for competitive entrance exams and college admissions.
He further noted that Karnataka Examination Authority's decision to announce CET results after the PUC Exam 2 results led to more candidates registering for the second exam, allowing them to choose their best scores from either Exam 1 or 2 for better CET rankings. Karnataka 2nd PUC 2025 Exam 2 is scheduled to be held from April 24th to May 8th.
The fee waiver, which previously cost students between INR 270 and INR 400, has eliminated financial obstacles, especially for disadvantaged students. This initiative complements incentives such as the INR 25 lakh one-time assistance for SC students who score above 95% and secure MBBS seats through NEET. This policy has been lauded for promoting educational equity, with a significant positive impact on female candidates.
