NSDC, IIT Mandi, and NCU Gurugram signed an MOU in New Delhi to launch a B.Tech. ECE in Semiconductor Design and Technology.
Kolkta: NorthCap University will handle enrollment, scheduling, and infrastructure for IIT Mandi's new B.Tech ECE program in 'Semiconductor Design and Technology,' launched in partnership with NSDC. NCU will also award the final degree. This initiative addresses the demand for skilled semiconductor professionals.
BTech ECE in semiconductor technology curriculum, featuring 25 credits of application-based learning, was jointly developed by NCU, NSDC, and IIT Mandi. NorthCap University will award the BTech ECE degree.
This four-year, eight-semester BTech ECE program at IIT Mandi provides in-depth knowledge of semiconductor technology.
Curriculum Includes:
National Skill Development Corporation plays a crucial role in the IIT Mandi BTech ECE program by facilitating overall program implementation and providing financial support to eligible students. Specifically, NSDC manages student enrollment through its digital platform and assists candidates in securing education loans. Furthermore, NSDC offers access to valuable online learning resources, including AI-enabled video lectures, and takes responsibility for handling internship and placement opportunities for students.
BTech ECE program provides students with a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical, hands-on experience in advanced semiconductor technologies. Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO of NSDC International, emphasized that the collaboration with IIT Mandi and NorthCap University is a significant step towards making quality education more accessible and integrating essential industry skills into higher education. By embedding globally recognized skill courses within degree programs through the National Credit Framework, it ensures students are future-ready and capable of leading and innovating in India's crucial semiconductor industry.
IIT Mandi will contribute specialized faculty and practical laboratory immersion programs. Students will be evaluated through coursework, exams, and projects, with IIT Mandi issuing credit certifications that will count towards their NCU degree. Tushar Jain, Head of CCE at IIT Mandi, emphasized that this partnership aims to develop a future-ready semiconductor workforce by integrating IIT Mandi's research, NCU's facilities, and NSDC's training.
