The GATE 2025 exam was held on February 1, 2, 15, and 16, 2025. GATE 2025 result has released on 19th March 2025.

Kolkata: IIT Roorkee, the organizing institute, has published the GATE 2025 marking scheme on the official website, gate2025.iitr.ac.in. Correct answers are awarded 1 or 2 marks, while incorrect multiple-choice questions incur negative marking: one-third mark deduction for 1-mark questions and two-third mark deduction for 2-mark questions.

GATE 2025 exam consists of two sections: a compulsory General Aptitude section and a subject-specific section chosen by the candidate. The exam features three question types.

Marking SchemeQuestions carry 1 mark or 2 marks
Negative Marking

For a 1-mark MCQ, 1/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer.

For a 2-mark MCQ, 2/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer.

There is no negative marking for wrong answers to Multiple Select Questions (MSQ).

There is no negative marking for wrong answers to Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions.
