Banaras Hindu University is now accepting online applications from international students for Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Special (Diploma/Certificate) courses for the 2025-26 academic year, with a deadline of May 20, 2025, at: bhuonline.in.

There are no age limits (except for Medical/IIT courses), and admission is merit-based. Applicants need to pay a non-refundable processing fee and may need to pay a fee. Ph.D. Programme Admission Conditions for International Students:

Self-financing Ph.D. applicants must have their applications processed through their respective Embassies/Missions in India.
The applicant's degree must qualify them for Ph.D. enrollment in their home country and meet all other eligibility criteria set by the University.
If the qualifying examination was not conducted in English, foreign candidates must provide proof of English proficiency by submitting a TOEFL certificate (minimum 70 marks) or an IELTS certificate (minimum 6 bands) with their application.
Candidates without TOEFL or IELTS scores can take an English Proficiency test administered by Banaras Hindu University. They must also have passed an Intermediate (10+2) level course and achieve an overall minimum score of 40% in the BHU test for admission confirmation. Admissions to the Ph.D. program occur in two sessions each academic year: July and January.
Admitted Ph.D. candidates should report for admission in July or January after obtaining a Research Visa from the Indian Embassy in their country, which they can apply for after receiving an eligibility letter from the University.
To ensure a smooth arrival and admission process, Ph.D. candidates are advised to contact the International Centre before departing their home country.

MBA Programme Admission for International Students:

Admission to the reserved seats for foreign nationals in MBA, MBA (International Business), and MBA in Agri-Business programs is based on a combined evaluation of the GMAT score and an online interview.
The admission process for these MBA programs (excluding MBA in Agri-Business) is typically completed in July each year.

Specific Requirements for Certain Nationalities:

Candidates from Iran: Must submit a No Objection Certificate from the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in India to be granted admission.
Candidates from Tibet: Are exempt from paying the Development fee starting from the academic session 2019-20.
