The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT KOLKATA), was established in 1963, with campuses in Delhi, Kolkata and Kakinada. It was founded as an Autonomous body under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry to contribute to the skill building for the external trade sector of India. Since then, it has come a long way to successfully develop into a unique institute that provides knowledge through training and Research in international business and trade. 

In 2002, This institute has achieved the “Deemed to be University” status. Also, This institute is accredited with a Grade ‘A’ from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). With a focus on International Business Management and Strategy, This institute has emerged as a national university that is reflected in all major activities of the institute, Training, Research and Education.

On 17th November 2021, IIFT was granted the prestigious AACSB Accreditation. Which makes the IIFT amongst the top 900+ Business Schools throughout the world that have received this accreditation.

IIFT offers courses in the domain of MBA, MA (Economics), Executive PGDP and PhD (Part - Time). The admissions are based on the CAT score, followed by the Writing Ability Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
