Central Library
Biju Patnaik Central Library (BPCL) at NIT Rourkela is named after the famous industrialist and politician Biju Patnaik, the institute's first Chairman of the Board of Governors. The library has been operating since 1965 and serves as the primary resource center for learning at NIT Rourkela.

Swimming Pool
NIT provides separate swimming facilities for male and female students. The men's swimming pool measures 50 m x 25 m and has eight lanes, making it suitable for international competitions. The women's swimming pool, located at the new Women's Hostel, is smaller, measuring 25 m x 12 m.
Both pools have swimming coaches available for men and women at specific times. The pools are open daily from 6:00 AM to 8:30 PM. Additionally, the university organizes special events such as inter-NIT and inter-hall swimming competitions in these pools.
Health Centre
The Institute Health Centre is behind the KMS Hall of Residence and in front of the REC School. It has a 24/7 Apollo Pharmacy attached to it, which meets the medical needs of everyone on campus. The health center has three regular doctors and is led by Dr. Champak Bhattacharyya. An ambulance is available for emergencies.
The health center also hosts visiting specialists on weekdays, including doctors for medicine, gynecology, cardiology, and pediatrics. The health center operates from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the morning and from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the afternoon.
