Master of Optometry or M. Optom is a Two - year Postgraduate program that comprises the study of the diagnosis and treatment of common eye related diseases. The course also imparts knowledge in the management of binocular vision issues such as improper functioning and squints of eyes. The course is mainly based on the various human eye related problems and its treatment.
The program focuses on the academic sections related to vision therapy, Neuro-optometric rehabilitation, Binocular vision, Rehabilitation, Behavioral optometry, Advanced contact lenses, Low vision and others.
Candidates seeking admission to this course, must have a bachelor’s degree in relevant stream with 50% marks from a recognized university. Students also have to appear for an entrance exam followed by a Personal interview round.
The average course fee can be from INR 1,00,000 and 2,00,000 per year. However, Private college fees are higher than the government institutes.
After completing this course, Graduates can get average salary between INR 4,00,000 to 12,00,000 per annum. This depends on the experience and skills of the candidate.
